With breakdancing debuting at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, Nike recognized this great opportunity to tap into the growing global relevance of dance with the intersection of art and sport. For girls, Dance takes an even deeper meaning: it's a form of self-expression, a tool to defeat stereotypes. Boosted by social platforms like TikTok, dance for girls has not only become a way to connect with friends, but also as a means to be creative, to move with no rules, and most importantly - to build confidence in her body and personality. Extensive research and insights from young dancers as well as professional choreographer Parris Goebel informed many of the design decisions for this pack. These features include breathability, adjustability, and customizability through innovations like Dri-FIT, expandable mesh openings, and raw hems allowing her to crop according to her unique body and style needs. The Q3 Camping range is inspired by the consumer’s need to escape during these hectic and uncertain times. While this muse is physically removing herself from her everyday environment, she still wants to maintain a social media presence by posting about her trip. This range includes versatile pieces that she can mix and match, providing her with many different outfit possibilities. The range thoughtfully incorporates functional materials such as DWR canvas, polar fleece, and French terry twill, allowing her the freedom to actively explore while staying stylish and comfortable. Design elements pull directly from Reebok’s rich heritage, as seen in a 1-for-1 archive jacket and all over print, which is also referenced in the elastic of the legging/bra set and the webbing strap of the convertible anorak. This Natural Dye capsule for FW21 celebrates Reebok’s approach to sustainable practice. Working very closely with our factory, we developed a process for dyeing our garments using pigments derived from natural resources. This process uses 30% less water and energy than our standard dyeing process, resulting in a beautifully washed look and feel. Additionally, materials used in this pack are high quality, heavyweight cottons developed as part of our Better Cotton Initiative, which mandates better cotton sourcing and farming practices. This pack was designed with the intent of providing premium materials and executions in simple, easy to wear silhouettes that look good across all different kinds of body types. In doing so, we are able to make our sustainability practice of natural and no dye accessible to a more diverse consumer group. Sold in store and globally online at reebok.com, asos.com, and ssense.com. Cads and designs by Christina Chen. Product photography courtesy of reebok.com.
The “Back to the City” pack was a late-add close to market request inspired by city exploration. Coming out of the summer season, this pack addresses the consumer’s thirst to explore the city where she looks to “see and be seen” before returning to school or work. The two main color stories for the pack are juxtaposed across time and location - where one girl might be exploring the streets of midday Manhattan, another might be getting lost within the neon lights of Tokyo at midnight. This range takes cues from the early 2000s, incorporating shiny, sheer, and reflective elements within a utility framework. Sold in store and globally online at reebok.com, asos.com, and ssense.com. Moodboard, concept sketches, and cads created by Christina Chen. Product photography courtesy of Reebok, reebok.com, and ssense.com.
